I have been debating for a while now on whether or not to ditch my cable. I watch most shows online (Hulu mostly), and I felt like I was wasting money paying for cable when I was already watching most shows online for free.But I get bothered that there are still many shows that I can't catch online, and they are not on my local cable. I tossed around the idea of satalite, but I just don't want to pay monthly for it. So I have decided to make the jump completely online. Here is my guide so you can to.

How to ditch cable and move to online TV

Connect PC to TV-First, make sure you have a television that you can connect to your computer. It sucks sitting across the room on your couch squinting at your 13in laptop screen. Most newer TV's have HDMI or at least VGA or VMI. If you don't know what that mean, check out easy to use guide to getting connected.

Get a media center-After that, I recommend that you download Boxee. Boxee is a media center for your PC/Mac that acts as a set-top box for browsing online video. It aggregates almost any show that you would ever want to watch online. It's Hulu feeds are what make it really great, as you can easily browse all that Hulu has to offer from the same program via remote!

Get the hard to find channels-I wanted to be able to get all the channels that I can not get with other online offerings. Satelitte Direct is an excellent option that has over 3500 channels from all over the world. It is super easy to set up and I love it. And the one time fee cost me less than one month of my cable bill.
